Freelance Afternoon – learn about self-employment in Finland and meet colleagues 22.11.2022

The Union of Journalists in Finland SJL and the Association of Freelance Journalists in Finland SFJ organize a Freelance Afternoon to our non-Finnish- and non-Swedish-speaking members. This free of charge event will be held in English.

The event takes place at the Union office in Hakaniemi Helsinki (Säästöpankinranta 2) on Tuesday November 22nd at 2pm-4pm. The purpose of the event is to support working as a freelancer in Finland and meet colleagues.

Ronan Browne, a Finland-based Irish journalist, tells about his career in Finland. He is an English speaking journalist working mainly for Yle.

Union’s lawyer Eveliina Tuominen will be present at the event, as will head of operations Anna-Sofia Nieminen from the Association of Freelance Journalists and head of training Nina Porra from the Union office.

When you register to the event, please feel free to tell what kind of training would support your work as a freelancer in Finland and what you would like to hear from Ronan Browne.

We have organized these events in Finnish and Swedish, and usually we briefly talk about different forms of self-employment, social security, taxes, agreements, copyrights and payments. Do you have any specific questions regarding these topics?
